Dr. Chuck Herron

 

 Dr. Herron has been the band director of the Northside High School Blue Wind Band since June 2011.  Under Dr. Herron's direction the band has grown from 80 students in the marching band to 200 students in the marching band.  Symphonic 1 the top performing ensemble yearly performs  joint concerts with college music programs.  Symphonic Band 1 has received no less than Superior Ratings at LGPE since 2011.  The band has a robust percussion ensemble, steel drum band, and two other concert bands.  The marching band has performed at Disney World, the Outback Bowl, New York Central City Park, and at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.

 

Dr. Herron graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor's degree in Music Education and Trumpet Performance.  Dr. Herron holds a Master's degree in Music Education from Kent State University, a Specialist and Ph.D. in music education from Auburn University.  In the 2001 marching season Dr. Herron was the Battle Hymn Trumpet Soloist of the UGA Redcoat Marching Band.  Dr. Herron's primary trumpet instructors are Dr. Edward Sandor, Fred Mills, and Ronald Wilcox.  Dr. Herron studied conducting under Dr.  F. David Romines and  Dr. John N. Culvahouse.  Before coming to Northside Dr. Herron spent 4 years at Central High School in Macon, GA.

 

 Dr. Herron is married to Lianne Herron.  They have two beautiful little girls, Annie and Madeline.    It's great to be a Northside Eagle!
